Danger to development of Babies
28/10/2008 07:50
Hi Belli friends! You will start to read more and more in the papers and the news in general about a chemical called Phthalate. I am currently calling on our government in Australia for tough new mandatory labelling of phthalates on all baby creams, shampoos/washes and powders so that parents can make an informed choice.
Phthalates are banned in baby personal care products in the EU and other parts of the worlds, due to their indisputable link to harming developing babies and impacting on natural reproductive development... and not for the better. http://www.ourstolenfuture.org/NEWSCIENCE/oncompounds/phthalates/phthalates.htm
Phthalates have been linked in a mountain of studies and clinical trials for years to concerns including -
- Reduced sperm counts (long term) in boys and men
- Early onset puberty in girls
There was also a recent documentary called Men in Danger which aired on SBS which was very clear from world wide research, that Phthalates are very bad and the consequences of ignoring them are far reaching. I will let you all know when it is going to be on air again. It is a report no pregnant woman or new parent should miss.
I will keep you up to date as we move forward with our campaign for labelling of Phthalates. The biggest point of all the research is clear, there are no 'good' phthalates and there are ways to avoid them in manufacturing of baby skin care. So we think at the very least parents in Australia should have the choice.
Of course Belli is 100% phthalate free (i am sure that goes unsaid!)
With much love for a wonderful journey into and through motherhood
Speak to you all soon... Sally x
